It's hard to tell if the last four decades were swift or slow. It doesn't seem like yesterday but not most of my life either. An overwhelming feeling of being under siege and rebellious fervor became entrenched in so many of us. Our champions were all being cut down, maybe next would be anyone who raised a voice of discontent. The following year in Salisbury, Wiltshire, the fuzz showed their direction and ignorant power when they beat and arrested demonstrators who were protesting the visit by Ian Smith of Rhodesia. A tyrant and determined to keep apartheid as the basis for social status and government in his country. Of course the morons in blue had no inclination of the significance of the man, they were just happy to be thugs.
1968 was a year of events. It seemed like the changes couldn't be held back. Maybe it takes less energy to be passive and settle into denial. It's getting late.
